The Various Shades Of Relationally Based Background Noise

First, a grey cold crystal base was born

An aqua sky then peaked, yet the shadows quickly grew a dark form

The Sky knew it must flood the crackled dark below, in order for new life to grow

But when the darkness seemed to fade, a dust storm stole the sky

Upon the clearing, a new vision formed, dark red offset by florescent life

As time grew though, the sky came under distant control

All sight fell deranged, distorted from the many stages of the one

To which mankind knew not what to do, so he caged them all, as he's been known to  do

Hieroglyph at the Entrance of Hell

The non-repenting
sinner and those
beyond forgiveness
find themselves at
the entrance of hell

At first it is dark
but then your body
turns to flame, yes it hurts

None of the creatures
sent to ensure your
passage speak, nor do they move

Before you can complete
your journey, as if you have a choice,
you must view the determining
reason for your long-term
acceptance into such a community as this

Along the wall a series of hieroglyphs
millions of miles wide and tall exist, each
telling the evil deeds of the members just
beyond the ferryboat

Everyone has a mural, and here
you find yours.

The Ballad of the Celestial Avenger

There's a war
between
angels and demons-
a war like none other-
no one is safe
all will fall victim

But time
annoyed two
A lesser devil
and a lesser god

Join they would
not out of love-
but to breed

To breed a
hero, with
the strengths
of both

A child that
must be hid-
to earth he would go
there he would grow

Until the day
he came of age
ascend he would
into the fray
even though
he knew not
what he should, what he could

But up high,
beyond mortal sight
The boy would stand
on the battlefield

And there
time would cease
blades would freeze
fires end

remain they would
and there he would stay
until the heavens
and the hades
decide to stop

Until a truce is called-
A stalemate sent to
cease the senseless blood that's spent-
In the sky
In the stars
Trickling animosity
blanketing
all the universe below.

Entanglement (before and after)

As usual, I begin with a random brain-writing session if you will, and see where that takes me.  Here, I had a general disarray of lines and decided to make connections between them all.  From that point I thought it would look better if I shaded in the stems, what I called them, the long connecting lines.  Then I smoothened out the the corners and finished up by darkening in some sections of the design.  I like the way the piece turned out; it reminds me of an entanglement of plant growth.  I picture a traveller who has just made their way through the dense brush of the woods.  Then, just as night appears, they reach the opening, where a beautiful and enchanted world can be seen, the vegetation comes alive entangling and entwining together, becoming an impenetrable wall.  The combined species of green growth turn dark.  Now only the beauty of the other side shows through the openings in the wall.  The traveller is now resigned to remain at least one more night in this, now, dark and unfriendly wooded confine.

Anyhow, once I got the story down in my head I decided to play around with color schemes.  The one shown in the lower painting is the one I through best represented the scene.

Inter-Dimensional Predatory Rights, Rules and Regulations

Ok.  This piece is extremely abstract.  So, that said I feel it necessary to put together a brief overview.  As always painting, all of art really, is meant to bring about a reaction.  Interpretations, whatever it may be is the correct idea, regardless of what I or any other artist claims a piece to being representational of.  It's whatever you get out of art that matters.

That said, I'll uncover some of the clues in this Mosaic inspired abstract.  There is a story to tell.  Look at the tags to get some of the basic themes.  The symbols have meaning, they aren't simply decoration.  Yet, these symbols are made up, to a certain extent.  What I did was take characters from languages and history and used those as models for putting this together.  But I think you can figure out what each means without knowing exactly what each represent, well at least I hope I did a good enough job that you're able to.

The piece is really about 3 dimensions.  Future earth, where hearts are free to love and explore.  In the future earth building represent the person.  There is a reptilian destroyer of worlds, who has taken hiding in this future earth.  Destroying the inhabitants of this small patch of love.  The wormholes appear and enter the Galactic enforcer, he's reptilian in nature too, but a hybrid of humanoid, druid and lizard.  He's the good guy and he wields a hammer- hint.

Okay, so the symbols can be read in a few ways, either they were scribbled across the landscape by the "earthling" prior to destruction, or the Reptilian heavy, who could have written them as marking down a history of his victory over the earthling.  Or it could be love, calling out for help, trying to signal anyone that could possibly hear its call.   I've also been told it could be the Hero, letting the "Earthlings" know all is safe once again.  Possible, interesting, but I don't know about that, seeing he's just arriving as the piece begins.

Anyhow, it's up to you to decide.  Perhaps you'll have looked at the piece prior to reading all of this.  Hopefully you will, that way your interpretation won't be tainted by what I had in mind.  Again I typically don't like mentioning what something is about, but with the really abstract pieces I've been told it helps.

Tracks Taken

Thought I'd paint something a bit more open this time.  It seems like, from looking back at the other paintings I've done, that I have a habit of packing design, image etc... into as much space as I can.  Now while i have to admit that I never really thought about it before, the more items/images et al, within a piece adds to it's complexity, and when you're trying to get all symbolic and abstract, the more the merrier, or so I say.

Yet for this piece I thought I'd free up the canvas, leave more open space.  Yet I still wanted to come up with something in the abstract.  I wanted to tell a story and to lead that story a long in a linear pattern.  I wanted symbols to represent the story and to tell it in a certain way.  I think I did that here.  I certainly could have painted the picture a bit different, yet I'm pleased with what I got out of this exercise, as primitive as it may appear, therefore I chose to post it here.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it.  Again, I'd like to thank Mr. Paint for the brushes for the sticker spray, they come in really handy and I used a couple of them on this piece.

Lines Drawn When Fates at Stake

Three
Creatures
Built for preservation
Each with Agenda's unique their own
But one understood
    What their unity proposed
Would not sacrifice the greater good
  This cliche two underestimated/misunderstood
Therefore one, but one, determined fate
By assessing what indeed's at stake
    In so doing
A line was drawn
Indicating the friend and foes for mankind

Excerpts from The Arrival

The arrival came as a surprise.  It shook the foundations.  Reverberated the walls.  Rearranged the order of the land.
Mortal eyes were not prepared for such a scene.

4:00am he woke, as he did every morning, not by choice, but by routine.  Upon relieving the overnight buildup, he would return to his room, get under the covers, for three more hours of uninhibited sleep.

At 5:30am she had yet to get to sleep.  She works the 7:00pm to 3:00am shift at the factory.  Last night she gladly accepted the two hours of overtime.  It was like a gift from God, as she is quickly approaching three months overdue.  She’s already received several notices from the bank.

A man came over last week, unannounced, in a worn out grey sweatshirt and blue jeans.  She was doing some finishing touches on her garden.  She saw the man, whom she had never in her thirty years at this address seen before, walking his dog, a Bullmastiff or perhaps simply a Mastiff, she loves dogs but always had trouble separating one breed apart from another similar in lineage.  She thought nothing of this innocent enough looking man walking his dog.  She figured he must be the new neighbor from three blocks down, as she had seen the moving vans parked in the driveway of the smallish orange-rust colored ranch for about a few days now.  So, when he said hello, introducing himself, she naturally, as any good neighbor would do, stopped picking the weeds from her flower garden and got up from her now soiled over kneecaps and arose to approach the stranger. She didn’t have to make her way the entire distance to the sidewalk, as this “new neighbor” met her half the way.

She said hello and pet the very affectionate beast of a dog.  She barely made eye contact with her new friend as her attention shared its focus upon this beautifully crafted animal and the watch her son gave her two Christmas’ ago.

It was already 3:00pm and she would soon have to hop in the shower, prettying herself up for the long evening ahead.  The small talk was brief before she announced she would have to take leave of him, in order to get ready for work.

The man quickly changed the tone of the, up until this point, pleasant conversation.  He now identified himself as a representative in the debt recovery department for the bank she did business with.  He explained that over the past two months several phone calls made on the banks behalf were unreturned.  He also mentioned that several letters, offering assistance, had been sent but never corresponded to.  She was upset.  She called the man a few names. It also appeared she instantly became a bit angry at the dog, but this could only be inferred from a not so loving gaze directed in his direction.

The one time stranger, now loathsome henchman, finished up the conversation by letting her know that if the payments hit ninety days her home would begin foreclosure proceedings.  A process there was no turning back from.

It was the seventy-seventh day.

She knew she didn’t have to pay all three months right away, but according to this man, she would have to pay two months before the eighty-ninth day ended.  She had exactly seventy dollars in change, which she kept in an oversized jar, a savings account for the trip she was hoping to take, where she would get to see her son, many states removed from the place she was at currently.  She would have a check for six hundred dollars, which she would receive on Friday and a separate one, in the same amount, the following week.  But even with these checks, she would still be nine hundred short, and that’s only if she starved herself.  She was extremely frazzled by this looming deadline, so she gladly accepted any and all the overtime the factory would extend her way.  It was 5:30am and in a few hours none of this would matter anymore.

These are but two of the lives that changed at 7:00am, on the day of the arrival.

So many people were standing amidst the wreckage at 7:10am.  Nothing stood.  The shaking was so intense, every foundation crumbled.  Everything had returned to the origin point.  A massive cleanup would soon begin.  No explanations.  Just an arrival that went unseen, by everybody, everybody except for one.
