Another lackluster week of picking, went 9-7 for the second time this season, bringing my record for the year up to 26-22. To my credit, this past weekend had some major league upsets, in fact, the whole year's been riddled with upsets, which, while making it that much more difficult to pick, certainly increases the enjoyment of watching the games, not really knowing, who will win and who will lose. So, I guess in retrospect, a bit above .500 isn't too bad three weeks in, unfortunately I set a rather lofty goal for myself this year, outdoing the .760 record I had for the 2011 season.
That all said, as I do each week, I'll give it another go here in week four.
Thursday Night
Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens
Not going to go to much in detail for this game. I'm expecting a Ravens blowout. Most exciting thing to watch in this one, if you're not a Baltimore fan, will be seeing if the regular officials have any rust. 35-10
Sunday Games
New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills
As much as I want to pick my Bills here, and actually for once, would have a case to back the pick up, I can't. While NE is 1-2 and Buffalo is 2-1 and at home, NE lost a questionably officiated game last Sunday Night against the Ravens, and only lost by a point, and the week before they lost because their Kicker missed a kick he makes 9/10 times. I can't recall the last time Brady and Co. lost 3 in a row, not having Hernandez and having Edelman and Mankins limited in practice won't help though. So, we'll just have to see if the most expensive DL in the NFL can rattle Brady and see if the Bills offense can pull it out. Going with NE though, hoping that I'm wrong. 31-27
San Francisco 49ers @ NY Jets
SF had a reality check last week against the Vikings. NY lost stud CB Revis for the year. I liked SF before Revis' injury and like them even more now. Should be low scoring though. 16-13 SF.
Seattle Seahawks @ ST. Louis Rams
Seattle's defense is too strong right now for the weak Ram line to contend with. Bradford was harassed last week and will be again this week. Ram defense is under the radar decent though. Pair that with a Seattle offense that doesn't exactly light the world on fire, could be a close game where a single play could tilt the outcome in either direction. I'm thinking that tilt will either by from Lynch or a key turnover caused by the Seahawks. Seattle 13-3
Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons
Cam's not playing that great right now. The Carolina run game is not up to speed yet. Atlanta's surprisingly playing better defense than many would've guessed, and that's before losing top CB Grimes for the year. But Matt Ryan is awesome right now. Atlanta big. 33-14
Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions
Ponder's playing great right now. Detroit's off to a terrible start. But that said, I'm going to take the Lions for the win this week. With as well as Ponder and Harvin have been, and as bad as the Lion Defense has been, could be a higher scoring game though. Lions 28-24
San Diego Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs
I think this could be a decent game. I like the way Atlanta moved the ball on SD last week and I think, while although a huge drop off, Matt Cassel can do some of the things Ryan did to them last week. I still see Rivers and Company pulling this one out, but should be an entertaining game though. SD 21-17
Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans
Texans stay undefeated. But Locker keeps the game close until their porous defense just can't hang in their any longer. Lots of running yards to be had this week for Foster, Tate and the Texans offense. Houston 38-24
Cincinnati Bengals @ Jacksonville Jaguars
In J-ville it's all MJD and nothing else. Cincinnati has an aerial assault going on this year, certainly one of the bigger surprises so far in 2012. Green, Hawkins, Binns have been great and so has QB Dalton. I like Cincinnati in a relatively easy one. 24-10
Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos
This game will feel like a bye for Denver. After playing Atlanta and Houston, they must feel like they deserve it too. Despite losing both those games, Manning, outside the first quarter against Atlanta, has been getting better, as I assume he'll continue to do so as the season moves on. Oakland may not have to worry about the run though, which could be bad for them, as it most likely means more Manning in the air. I like the Raiders offense though. I think they'll be able to score on what I feel is an underachieving Broncos defense, compared to late last year. But I don't like the Raider defense against Manning and think some points will be scored here. Denver 42-30
Miami Dolphins @ Arizona Cardinals
People are laughing that Arizona is undefeated right now. But they really shouldn't be. The Cardinal defense is for real, and QB Kolb has been playing some good football right now. If the Card's run game could get going they could be really good. I like Arizona big. 24-7
Washington Redskins @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I've been picking Washington and they've been losing. I want to take Tampa, I really do, but I just can't trust a Josh Freeman led team. So, that said, I'll take RGIII and the Skins again. 17-13
New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers
This is a very interesting game. Who would've guessed, coach or no coach, that NO would still be looking for their first W of the year. I was going to take them here, just for that reason. But, the way the Monday night game went down, I think GB is ticked off and NO's defense is awful. I'm pretty confident Rodgers and company will take full advantage of it. GB 34-24
New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles
This games may be the hardest one to pick this week. I can see both teams winning, and also can see both losing. It is at home, which most times, in such situations, I'd use that as the swing vote. But, something tells me Eli will have a monster game, and I'm thinking we'll see Nick Foles sometime soon. Vick's just not seeing the pressure and we all know what happens when that becomes routine, especially with a fragile QB like Vick. Giants 30-20
Monday Night
Chicago Bears @ Dallas Cowboys
Very interesting matchup. Dallas just squeaked one out against TB last week and Chicago looked ugly offensively in their win. Cutler, after three weeks, hasn't been as impressive as I thought he'd be. They've left a lot of points on the board so far. But so has Dallas. I probably should take Dallas at home, so no real surprise here. The reason though, is not from the pressure the Dallas D will cause, nor the Romo, Witten, Murray, Bryant, Austin offense, its because the Cowboys have now, what they set out to accomplish in the off season, and that's have 3 solid CB's. The top two are playing great right now. Love what Claiborne's been able to do so far, and Carr's looking like a nice FA signing as well. Dallas 21-17
Pittsburgh and Indianapolis are on Bye
See you in Week 5.

Don't Put Baby In A Corner…err…triangle or Berzerk LIfe Triangle
The New World Creative Union has restarted their very cool mid-week prompt, The Wednesday Wake Up Call. This week Roger's opened up the floor for any artistic medium. The Prompt is to create something using, yellow, green, blue and Lilac, along with incorporating triangles, Peace and a Baby. As you can tell I went abstract, go figure right. I added a little black into the picture so the metaphor could work.
Make sure you stop on over and see what everyone's created, and the link will be open for a few more days, so get inspired and join in the fun.

NFL Week 3 Game Predictions
Two weeks down and still not firing on all cylinders. I was unhappy about going 9-7 in week one and even more unhappy about going .500 this past weekend. 9-7, 8-8 isn't terrible, but it's a small stones throw away from average. I really thought I'd have a much better record after two weeks than where I'm sitting here today at 17-15. But, there's still fifteen more weeks to be played, which is plenty of time to inch back to the amazing season I had just a year ago.
On to Week 3.
Thursday Night
New York Giants @ Carolina Panthers
I'm looking forward to this one. The Giants aren't exactly playing Super Bowl Champion type of football and are really banged up, now throughout the roster. The Panthers were pretty bad in week one, but got their ground game, their bread and butter, going this past week. With Carolina's so-so secondary, I think Eli, Cruz and Nicks should be ringing up the highlight film once again. But I also think Cam Newton will definitely be able to do some damage against a to-date, not so impressive Giants Defense. I look for a high-scoring game with the Giants squeaking out the win late. 37-34
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Dallas Cowboys
Dallas' ineffectiveness in week 2 is most certainly cause to be concerned for Cowboy fans. And outside a poor show of sportsmanship at the end of their week 2 contest, the new Buc's are pretty impressive so far. I think Dallas will pull this one out though, they are the more talented team, right? Close though. 21-20
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts
Jags aren't good, plain and simple. There were some that thought Gabbert was getting it this year, that he had a deadly two headed RB attack with MJD and Jennings, along with a revamped WR corp, highlighted by rookie Justin Blackmon. I never completely bought into them, and said that if they're going to win, it's because of strong defense and a strong running game. Teams have run all over them this year, but MJD is rounding back into form, or so we have been hearing. Indianapolis has had flashes offensively, QB Luck is showing why he was so highly touted in college and he's getting plays made by Wayne and Donnie Avery. There defense is terrible all around though. Well, with that logic, you'd have to take Indianapolis because of the more potent offense right? well, not exactly. I'm going with the Jags, as Indianapolis can't run the ball as of yet. Perhaps this will be the week they can, but I'll take Jacksonville in an ugly one. 23-21
Buffalo Bills @ Cleveland Browns
Bills had an impressive game last week, pushing the week one debacle in NY firmly behind them. Cleveland is playing strong defensively and is showcasing talented RB Richardson. Buffalo's been very stout against the run and will look to take Richardson out of the game early, making QB Weeden beat them through the air, where I'd have to say it's been a split-decision for Buffalo's secondary so far. This should be a close game up until somewhere in the 3rd quarter where the more talented Bills team takes control. 28-14
NY Jets @ Miami Dolphins
The Jets came back down to earth last week in Pittsburgh, Miami found it's wheels in RB's Bush and Miller alongside a pretty solid showing by rookie QB Ryan Tannehill. I'm half tempted to take Miami here at home, but the Jets are just way more talented then they showed last week and Miami isn't playing the Raiders defense this week. Jets in a good game in the style that has become a great division rivalry. 14-10
Kansas City Chiefs@ New Orleans Saints
Should be a high scoring game. Both teams have offensive talent and have pretty porous defenses so far this year. In this case, I take the elite QB Brees over a bunch of talented but an underachieving KC offense. New Orleans in a gunfight 35-24
Cincinnati Bengals @ Washington Redskins
Skins should be, if not for a boneheaded mistake at the end of the game, 2-0. Cincinnati has weapons so perhaps they'll make a showing of it. Actually, with the Skins losses to Carriker and Orakpo, things did get a bit easier. But I'm taking RGIII as he just seems to make plays. Another close game. Washington 17 Cincinnati 14
St. Louis Rams @ Chicago Bears
St. Louis has played two quality games so far, going 1-1, easily could be 2-0 though. Chicago got embarrassed by GB last week. I think they are the more talented squad, and they're at home. Could be fun to watch if Bradford can repeat his week 2 performance, if not could be a long day for Ram fans. Chicago 19-12
San Francisco 49'ers @ Minnesota Vikings
After stifling two of the leagues more prolific offenses in GB and Detroit, this week should feel like a bye for the niners. SF 31-6
Detroit Lions @ Tennessee Titans
One of these teams will win. Tennessee has been scored upon at will this year. Just what Stafford and Calvin Johnson need. Almost unfair. Detroit 42-17
Atlanta Falcons @ San Diego Chargers
One of two games this week featuring two undefeated teams. Both look a legit 2-0 as well. Could be a highlight game on the schedule this week. I'm going to take Atlanta, because of their defense, it's been pretty impressive so far. The Chargers might get RB Ryan Matthews back though, which should open up an offense that's already clicking. However, I'll stick with my gut here and take Atlanta in a good game. 24-21
Philadelphia Eagles @ Arizona Cardinals
The second battle of the undefeated teams. While I'm not an Eagles fan by any stretch of the imagination, in fact I pretty much have rooted against them ever since they signed Mike Vick, but that's a conversation for a different time. The Eagles though impressed me in being able to hang in there with Baltimore and eventually squeaking out the win. Sure, the scab ref's blew a TD for the Ravens, but nevertheless, I left the game impressed. Arizona, wow, just wow, they went to foxboro and did something no team has been able to do before, beat NE @ Gillete in a home opener. That said, I just think there's a major disparagement of talent between these two teams. I like the Cardinals too, one of my teams when growing up (another longer story), but I don't think they'll hang with Philly. Eagles 35-14
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Oakland Raiders
Going out to the West Coast gives East Coast teams fits, but I think Pittsburgh walks all over the Raiders. Pittsburgh 24-7
Houston Texans @ Denver Broncos
Could be a really good game. Undefeated and perhaps, after SF, the best team in the league right now in Houston and a Peyton Manning led Broncos squad that looks to be a serious contender in the AFC this year. This game could hold significance later on as well. At home Denver gains an edge, but how the Texans have looked so strong on both sides of the ball, I just can't pick against them. Houston 33-28
New England Patriots @ Baltimore Ravens
Two teams angry over week 2 losses. Ravens are at home though and the Patriots will be without TE Aaron Hernandez, a featured weapon of Tom Brady's. For these reasons I'll take Baltimore and look for Raven's QB Joe Flacco to have a big game in the process. Baltimore 28-21
Monday Night
Green Bay Packers @ Seattle Seahawks
Teams don't fare well in Seattle, that's a fact. Both teams are coming off dynamic wins over pretty good competition, but I can't take the home team, not unless Aaron Rodgers is a last minute scratch for no apparent reason. GB 21-13
See you in week 4.

NFL 2012 Week 2 Predictions
Well, week one's in the books, and as things panned out, I have to say I was pretty surprised by the number of points scored, how far behind the defense is from the offense, and that I'm still in preseason mode for my picks. Didn't fare too well last week, 9-7, which is still above .500, but well below the high percentage I had last year, and not what I was hoping for. Well, one week done and that quickly another comes upon us.
This week I'm looking for the offense-defense gap to close somewhat. Every team has that first game underneath them, and outside of the injuries that really hurt a few teams in week one, they'll be aches on all teams, which, in and of itself should help the defensive units out. Now, that all said, all that offense in week one was definitely fun to watch, just makes it a bit tough to gauge when trying to pick.
This week, I don't feel I have a good grasp as to what to expect, and that is all solely based upon the poor defensive play in week one, outside of NE, SF and HOU, I'd have to say most teams disappointed me, and then you had a few teams shock me, NYJ, TB and STL with the loss, but probably the best defensive performance of the week in my opinion. Ok, onto week 2.
Thursday Night
Chicago @ Green Bay
I loved the way Chicago looked last week. Cutler to Marshall looks as if they never were separated. GB was off offensively and looked terrible at times. I think things will tighten up here this week. I really can see this game going either way, and actually my gut is telling me to take Chicago, but I'll go against it and take the home Pack. 24-21
Tampa Bay @ NY Giants
Tampa had a great showing last week against Carolina. The Giants were not up to snuff in their opener. In my mind though there's just too much space between these two teams. Giants 24-28
Oakland @ Miami
Miami looked terrible, but they did go against Houston, so I took that into account here, in regards to final score. Oakland did a few nice things in a stinker of a game against SD, but I think they're ahead of Miami right now, simply because they have a game changer in DMC. If he wasn't playing I'd take Miami. Another stinker of a game. Oakland 20-13
Houston @ Jacksonville
I can't see Jax winning. Houston 28-7
Cleveland @ Cincinnati
Cleveland played really well against Phi. Cinci played abysmal against Baltimore. I still like the Bengals, but actually think this could be a contest. Cinci 24-20
KC @ Buffalo
Ok, both teams struggled in week one. Buffalo was embarrassing. I can't give up on my bills yet, and if Flowers doesn't play this could be an answer type of game to their poor play last week. CB's have to be better though if Pass rush has any chance. Buffalo 31-27
Baltimore @ Philadelphia
Baltimore was clicking on all cylinders and Philly looked out of sync, again to start a season with high hopes. I like Baltimore a lot this year, and I'm not a Vick believer. 17-10
NO @ Carolina
I think Carolina will fare better offensively than they did against TB. I think the boost will be seen in the running game, getting Stewart back helps a lot. But I think NO is still better than Carolina. I can't wait to watch this one, should be a lot of points scored. NO 42-35
Arizona @ New England
Simply put New England in a rout. 42-17
Minnesota @ Indianapolis
Luck's first outing was a mixed-bag. Minnesota looked much better than I expected and AP is only going to be one game healthier. Minnesota in a surprising competitive game 17-14
Washington @ St. Louis
STL defense played great last week against Detroit, but RG III and the Skins were the team that came out in rare form. I think it's for real too. I doubt RGIII repeats his week one performance, but I do think he'll lead the Skins to a W. 23-13
Dallas @ Seattle
Dallas should handle this one easily. That said, Seattle doesn't lose too often at home and I think this will surprise many as they pull off the upset. 20-14
NYJ @ Pittsburgh
I'm sorry, maybe I'm jilted from the game last week, but I'm not buying into the Jets yet. I'm not high on Pittsburgh this year, but I think they'll take the Jets down a notch this week. 22-20
Tennessee @ SD
Could be another stinker. If Locker plays the whole game and CJ2K is not invisible I think the Titans will win, if not it goes to SD. I think the Titans pull it off though. 24-17
Detroit @ SF
Rematch of sorts, the Harbaugh vs. Schwarts round 2. SF stymied GB and they'll do the same this week, there Defense is lights out and there offense is better. I think they'll be great all year. Although, I do think Stafford and the Lions will do a bit better offensively than they did last week, despite the better defense this week. SF 22-14
Denver @ Atlanta
Not much rust on Peyton Manning and with Grimes out, just another chink in the Falcons D for Manning to pick apart. Should be a fun game with a lot of passing though. Denver 33-28

2012 Week 1 Predictions
I just posted my preview and predictions for the year a couple minutes ago. However, I actually wrote most of that up a week to 10 days ago, and just finished typing it in tonight.
That said, like last year, I'm going to predict each week out individually again. There will be differences as the year goes on, in fact there will probably be differences from the first week in the season predictions to the one I'm doing here right now.
Last year I had a better correct prediction percentage than I saw posted from anywhere. And believe me, I looked. You can check last years, and any of this years you may miss as the season goes on, just by going to the tab atop the screen. Last years posts are already in there. I'm hoping to beat last years percentage. And while I know that'll be difficult, I'm at least shooting to stay somewhere in that range. Anyhow, here goes week one.
Being the first week, I won't go into as much detail with the picks as those of you who read my articles last season may recall. Eventually I'll get write longer bits for each game, but bear with me the first few weeks until I get back into the routine of doing these each week.

Dallas Cowboys Vs. New York Giants
I know there are a lot of people out there predicting great things for Dallas this year. I just don't see it. Sure, they added some of what they lacked on defense, but really, if you look at it, they added a rookie CB, who should be good, and Brandon Carr, a guy I've never really been all too impressed with…actually, I'll clarify that by saying he's a solid, steady guy every team would like to have back there, but he's not a gamechanging CB. At least I don't think so. On offense, wow, I have questions. Offensive Line, Romo's health, Austin's health, Dez's guidelines, not to mention Witten's status. I'm going with the Giants, they are the champs and really don't have many question marks at all. 24-13
Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012
Indianapolis Colts Vs. Chicago Bears
Should be a blow out. If it's not, perhaps I'm too high on the bears chances this year. Luck's first regular season game should be intriguing though. Chicago 34-17
Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Cleveland Browns
Another game that shouldn't really be close. Things to watch for: Vick staying healthy. Weeden and Richardson's first action. Eagles Big. 33-10
St. Louis Rams Vs. Detroit Lions
Another of the same type of game. Detroit wins big. Looking to see how the Lion's RB situation sorts itself out, but still, probably won't know much more until Leshoure gets in there. Stafford to Calvin is always fun to watch for. 38-21
Miami Dolphins Vs. Houston Texans
See. The theme this week is bad vs good teams. Tannehill's first start is all I can see Dolphin fans looking forward too here. Houston 42-7
Atlanta Falcons Vs. K.C. Chiefs
A bit better of a game. Chiefs played strong down the stretch last year. I think Romeo will do a nice job with them, but they have a tough opening few weeks. Fully healthy and lots of offensive weapons. But, not nearly enough to outmatch Matt Ryan and the Falcon's weapons, who should be very fun to watch this year. Atlanta 24-13
Jacksonville Jaguars Vs. Minnesota Vikings
Two bad teams entering a season with the hope of being good. One will get a win, one will get a loss. MJD in on 3rd downs, and the Jags offense had a little spark to it this preseason, will be interesting to see if it can carry over. But I'm going to take the Vikings, for coaching consistency and being home. 16-13
Washington Redskins Vs. New Orleans Saints
RGIII vs what's left of the Saints after Bountygate. What's left. Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham and the ability to score at will. They'll be fine this year, just fine. 31-10
Buffalo Bills Vs. NY Jets
Lots of hype for my Bills this year. I'm just hoping it's for real this year. I'm interested to see how the Jets use Tebow, but hoping it won't work. This all said, I have to think it'll be a close game, but one that the front four of the Bills Defensive dominates. 13-7 Buffalo
New England Patriots Vs. Tennessee Titans
The Locker era opens in Nashville. Patriots could go undefeated this year, unfortunately. But they do look great. High Scoring game. 49-38
Seattle Seahawks Vs. Arizona Cardinals
I like Russell Wilson and can't wait to see this game. I'm a big Ryan Williams fan as well, so will be nice to finally see him play. However, with suspect QB play for AZ, and a stout Seattle defense, I think the Seahawks take this opener. 20-10
San Francisco 49ers Vs. Green Bay Packers
Game many thought would've been played last year in the NFC championship game. Should be the marquis game of the week in my opinion. I like GB a lot this year, why wouldn't I thought, right? The fact they shored up their defense some more, really should be the difference. 31-23
Carolina Panthers Vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cam Newton vs new look Bucs. I'm going with the Panthers in a better than advertised type of game. Will be watching V-Jax and Doug Martin closely for the Bucs though. 17-9 Panthers
Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Denver Broncos
Peyton Manning's first real game for Denver, at home, against a Steelers team that is not where they want to be right now. Big play WR Mike Wallace is just getting acclimated to the new offense, a hodge-podge at RB and some offensive line concerns. Can I see Pittsburgh winning, yes. Will I pick them, no. Denver. 21-14
Monday, Sept. 10, 2012
Cincinnati Bengals Vs. Baltimore Ravens
Should be a good game. Two good teams with proving to do. I really want to pick the Bengals, and if this was in Cincinnati I would've, but sometimes home cooking is all the difference. 24-21
San Diego Chargers Vs. Oakland Raiders
And so the week rounds out in the Black Hole. Raider fans are way too excited for this season. They aren't going to be as great as many make them out to be. But I think they'll pull this one out. As I'm getting some really bad vibes out of SD this year. Hope they keep it interesting enough to give us reasons to keep watching the game to the end. Raiders 28-24

2012 NFL Season Predictions-Overview
As I intend to do each year prior to the start of each new NFL season, I'll take my best educated guess as to what each teams overall record will be, and then, add in some playoff possibilities, awards and culminating with a predicted champion.
Well, after several attempts to get the alignment straightened out, I've run out of ideas. Some of the post just didn't want to transfer aligned as it is on the page I wrote this up on. I've noticed this type of thing happen before with blogger, and trying to fix it after the fact is often times futile. Perhaps I'll simply type directly into blogger next time.
